On April 12, 2011, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted a patent (US 7923454) on a series of Jenken's compounds for the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Crohn’s disease (CD), multiple sclerosis (MS) and chronic liver diseases, lung disease and kidney disease. This series of compounds includes Jenken’s NCE lead. TLR4 signaling cascade has been implicated in many diseases such as RA, CD, MS and chronic organ inflammation and fibrosis.
