President and Chief Executive Officer, Barry Buzogany, Esq.
Barry Buzogany has more than 25 years of senior level experience
with leading biotech, pharmaceutical, and contract research organizations,
including Centocor, Boehringer Ingelheim, Gene Logic and Battelle
Memorial Institute. Barry has served on numerous executive management
teams and brings a uniquely broad set of cross functional experiences
to the Company. He has also been a key member of numerous drug
development and drug launch teams, including two $1+billion drugs,
one of which is Remicade® (Infliximab), a biologic agent for
treatment of inflammatory disorders involving the immune system.
Prior to joining Jenken, he served as Chief Operating Officer
at Icoria, Inc., a drug development support company, subsequently
acquired by Clinical Data, Inc.
Founder, Chairman/CSO, Edwin Wu, Ph.D.
Dr. Wu has over 20 years of pharmaceutical R&D experience.
He has held senior research and management positions including
Principal Scientist I at Astra and Senior Director at ScinoPharm
Taiwan. His strong drug discovery background has encompassed several
therapeutic areas such as inflammatory, cardiovascular, and central
nervous system diseases including Alzheimer’s disease. He
has co-authored over forty peer-reviewed publications including
reviews and issued US patents. Dr. Wu is the inventor of flavodilol,
which has entered human Phase 1 and 2 clinical trials as a new
anti-hypertensive drug, and has been the co-inventor of many compounds
that have become preclinical candidates for indications in Alzheimer’s
disease, asthma, and cognition enhancement. After receiving a
Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison,
he did postdoctoral work at Cornell University.
Operations Advisor, Peter Johnson, MD
After a successful academic career in reconstructive surgery,
Dr. Johnson founded the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative
and then was co-founder, Chairman and CEO of TissueInformatics
which he led through $25M in financing and its ultimate sale to
Paradigm Genetics (now Icoria). He served as the Chief Medical
Officer, Sr. VP Corporate Development and Chief Business Officer
of Icoria until founding Scintellix, LLC in 2005, which he serves
as President and CEO.
Preclinical Research Advisor, Philip Morgan, Ph.D.
Dr. Morgan is a founder of several biotechnology companies and
served as Head of Molecular Pharmacology, GlaxoSmithKline. He
has over 20 years of experience in pharmacology with extensive
knowledge of all phases of drug development from discovery through
commercialization. Therapeutic areas of expertise include inflammation,
osteoarthritis, CNS, and metabolic disorders. He has an extensive
record of successful (IND/NDA) interactions with the FDA and other
regulatory agencies.
Financial Advisor, Phil Alfano
Mr. Alfano is founder and President of Alfano & Associates,
a financial advisory company. He previously served as CFO for
more than 25 years for both public and private companies, most
recently at Icoria, Inc. He has raised capital exceeding $300
million for public companies and $100 million for private companies,
and has been a key member of management teams responsible for
the purchase and sale of several companies, as well as for strategic
planning and marketing initiatives, divestitures, restructurings,
and new business alliances.
