Clinical Hepatology, John G. McHutchison,
MD, FRACP
Dr. McHutchison is Professor of Medicine; Director of Gastroenterology/
Hepatology Research at the Duke Clinical Research Institute, Duke
University Medical Center, Durham, NC. Dr. McHutchison has published
world-wide in the field of liver diseases and on chronic hepatitis
C infection. He is on the Editorial Board for Hepatology, an Associate
Editor for the Journal of Hepatology, a member of the AGA Research
Policy Committee, Chairman of the AASLD Clinical Research Committee,
and a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians. He
received his MD degree (1981) from the University of Melbourne,
Australia and completed an advanced fellowship in hepatology at
the University of Southern California. He was Medical Director
of Liver Transplantation and head of the Hepatitis Study section
at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in La Jolla, California.
His interests cover hepatitis C & B, ascites, noninvasive
fibrosis markers, steatosis.
Medical and Research: Rodger Liddle, MD
Dr. Liddle is currently Professor of Medicine at Duke University
Medical Center and former Chief of Division of Gastroenterology,
Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Liddle received his medical
degree from Vanderbilt University and performed his internship
and residency in Medicine at the University of California, San
Francisco. He was a fellow in Gastroenterology at UCSF where he
also performed his postdoctoral research training. Dr. Liddle
has served on the faculties of UCSF and Duke University. At Duke,
Dr. Liddle has held numerous leadership positions, most recently
serving as Chief of the Gastroenterology Division. Dr. Liddle
is an internationally recognized investigator in the physiology
of the gastrointestinal tract and has had continuous NIH funding
for his research for over 20 years. He is currently an Associate
Editor for Gastroenterology and is a member of the prestigious
American Society for Clinical Investigation and the Association
of American Physicians. Dr. Liddle is an author of over 240 textbook
chapters, peer reviewed scientific articles and abstracts. Dr.
Liddle has served as an industry consultant for pharmaceutical
development, including Director of Nobex Corporation's Gastrointestinal
Business Unit where he supervised preclinical development of two
pharmaceutical programs in the areas of obesity and inflammatory
bowel disease and helped design phase I, II, and III clinical
programs.
Regulatory Affairs: Loren Miller, Ph.D.
Dr. Miller has more than 20 years experience in clinical regulatory
affairs. He has served in several executive positions at PPD Development,
LP, including Vice President, Scientific and Regulatory Affairs.
Prior to joining PPD, he has held many senior and management positions
in clinical research and regulatory affairs at Quintiles, Inc.
and Glaxo Wellcome. After graduating from the University of Kentucky
with a Ph.D., he taught at University of Kentucky Medical Center
and VA Hospital as an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry. Dr. Miller
is a co-author of more than 50 peer reviewed publications.
